I'll Keep 'Em Awake

By Cindy O'Connor

Once while he was preaching, a pastor raised his eyes,
And what he saw upstairs, came as a great surprise.
Amazed and almost paralyzed, he saw his only son
Leaning over the balcony and having barrels of fun.
The boy was pelting listeners, sitting down below,
With beans from his beanshooter, and it was quite a show.
The father stopped his preaching, and tried to catch his breath.
The youngster spied his father's eyes - the place was still as death.
He shouted clearly to his dad, nor feared the course he'd take,
"You just go on preachin', Paw - I'll keep 'em all awake."
